SafeBoda has strengthened their commitment in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic as the number of new cases soars.
This comes after the Ministry of Health announced 318 new cases on Saturday, the highest number of infections recorded yet in a single day.
“SafeBoda has always supported Uganda’s efforts to combat COVID-19,” Ricky Rapa Thomson, the Director & Co founder SafeBoda said. “We have been an active member of the Government Taskforce, working with the Ministry of Health, KCCA, Ministry of Works and Transport and private industry leaders to put in place logistics and transportation SOPs.”
The ride-hailing company is further training riders in strict adherence to SOPs of mask wearing and regular sanitizer use.
In addition, they will also provide free hand sanitizers to all SafeBoda drivers and increase sensitization of COVID-19 SOPs across the SafeBoda driver community.
“COVID-19 presents us all with a challenge. While this comes at a cost for SafeBoda, the community realizes the vital role it can play in helping Uganda get through the pandemic. ” Ricky added.
“SafeBoda drivers can receive free hand sanitizer at the SafeBoda HQ in Kyebando and also via our trusted partner Shell, across their petrol stations in Ntinda, Makindye, Wandegeya, Lugogo.” He concluded.
Meanwhile, SafeBoda is also planning to put hand-washing stations at stages across the city.
According to data from the Ministry of Health, the total confirmed COVID-19 cases of Ugandans stands at 2,362 as of Tuesday. The recoveries are at 1,248 and fatalities at 20.
