Uganda Premier League (UPL) side Sadolin Paints who lie in 12th spot on the 16 team log are in hot soup after players staged a sit down strike protesting the club’s failure to pay their salaries with others having their money ‘chopped’ under unexplained circumstances.
The development follows reports that players refused to turn up for their usual Monday training session despite their tutors in the names of Musafiri Samadu and Ken Musota being available to resume with normal schedules.
“It’s now months since we last got our salaries. As if that isn’t enough, some officials eat our money. For instance, some of us who are entitled to Ugx. 500,000 are only given 200,000 yet the former is reflected in the financial statements to the bosses,” a player who prefered anonymity told Kawowo.com.
The players also revealed that they have not received match allowances among other expectations that should be met by the club management. They now demand to meet the club directors before they resume with normal training and all other club activities.
“The top managers from the Paints Company who own the club release everything in time but it’s the link between them and us that are frustrating us. So we now want to meet the club directors and tell them our problems,” the player added.
