New Vision deputy sports editor, Sabiiti Muwanga was on Saturday elected as the new president of the Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) for the 2014-2016.
During a body assembly held at the Christ the King Church hall in Kampala, Muwanga became the new president elect after beating Leon Ssenyange with 43 to 36 votes.
On the same day, KFM’s Patrick Kanyomozi was also elected as the new general secretary of the association. Kanyomozi beat Johnson with a 49 to 33 vote count to become the new general secretary.
Unopposed Mubarak Kasule and Robert Magembe had the chance to keep their positions as Organizing Secretary and Treasurer, respectively.
Mwanaga who replaced the outgoing USPA president Mark Namanya urged the members to involve in teamwork as the key to success of the activities of the association.
“I call upon everyone to join me so that we work as a team. This victory indicates that there is a sign of progress and determination in USPA,” New Vision quotes.
