What is the Music Industry?
The music industry consists of the companies and individuals that earn money by creating new songs and pieces, selling live concerts and shows, audio and video recordings, and the organizations and associations that aid and represent the music creators.
Among the many individuals and organizations that operate in the industry are: the songwriters and composers, the singers, musicians, the companies and professionals who create music ie producers , recording studios, record labels, retail and online music stores, performance rights organizations and those that help organize and present live shows (sound engineers, booking agents, promoters, music venues)
The industry also includes a range of professionals who assist singers and musicians with their music careers (talent managers, artists and repertoire managers, business managers, entertainment lawyers); those who broadcast audio or video music content (broadcast radio and TV stations, satellite, Internet radio stations); music journalists and music critics; DJs etc.

Artists such as singers and musicians in Uganda that are under recognized managers or management companies operate as follows, the artist manager or management company oversees all aspects of an artist’s career in exchange for a percentage of the artist’s income but given our settings in most cases managers or management companies invest until when the act breaks through or goes commercial and then we start percentage earnings.
A successful artist functions in the market as a brand and, as such, they may derive income from many other streams not limited to performances, such as merchandise, personal endorsements, appearances (without performing) at bars and events or Internet-based services. These are typically overseen by the artist’s manager.
