After completion of Miss Uganda pageant, the tourism sector also through its ministry decided to start their own beauty pageant dubbed Miss Tourism and the Pageant is on the Shoulders of Ruparelia group of companies as the main sponsors.
As it might have been revealed by a team member of Bugeye.ug Ian, who critically analysed and confirmed “Gunno mulembe gwa Sudhir” translated as the generation of Sudhir as Opposed to Maurice Kirya’s song has solid evidence to back his research.
Ruparelia group of companies is owned and directed by the Ugandan-Indian Sudhir Ruparelia. Its comprised of Hotels, banks, schools, clubs among other things.
Auditions for the pageant were held at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel last month and a total of nineteen contestants managed to go through. There is an ongoing country wide tour of different tourist destinations ranging from game parks to cultural centres. And this couldn’t be possible without the organisers getting a shot in the arm by Ruparelia group of companies which emerged as the first organisation to fund the initiative.
Mrs Tina Ajay, the personal assistant to Sudhir Ruparelia, the chairman Ruparelia Group of Companies handed over a Shs10m checque to Edwin Muzahura, the head of marketing and PR Uganda Tourism Board on Tuesday.
Mrs Aje said Ruparelia Group of companies being major stakeholders in the hospitality business in the country were impressed by the idea and pledged to give more support to the iniative.
The Miss Tourism pageant is slated for October 26th at Sheraton Kampala Hotel.
