Sheer genius is just one superlative to describe Wayne Rooney. A man who has been under so much scrutiny over his future for the last months that we had almost forgotten about his ability. But what does he do??
He decides to remain tightlipped and focus on a journey to greatness delivering on the pitch with some sublime finishing silencing the numeral critics who had written him off.
So when Man Utd came up against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League, we witnessed a rejuvenated player making muzzy runs from midfield and basically being in the thick of things. Typical Rooney. A classic player who could harm any team on any day and seeing him link up with Robin Van Persie was probably the turning point of the game.
After scoring a brace that makes him one of four players to score above 200 goals, Rooney can now boast of being mentioned in the same breath as Dennis Law and Bobby Charlton.
He is enjoying a rich vein of form and can only wish he can continue getting the goals and cementing his place Manchester United’s history.
