On Thursday evening, finding parking around 1420 Bar & Lounge in Bugolobi was a hustle as RnB lovers and party animals flocked the hangout in droves for first edition of Strictly Soul for 2025.Everyone knew exactly what was in store; RnB and whisky galore!
From classic ’90s RnB anthems, to the latest chart-topping hits, the DJ lineup that included DJ Akio, DJ Anselm, and DJ Bryan, took the crowd on an electrifying musical journey.
The dance floor? Packed. The crowd? Unstoppable. The vibes? Simply electric. Whether you wanted Johnnie Walker by the bottle, or served up in a delicious cocktail, there was something for everyone.
It was an RnB lover’s paradise, as jams from the Lionel Richie, Usher, SZA and more ruled the airwaves. The energy was unmatched, the music, the dancing, the company, pure RnB magic.
Speaking about the partnership with Strictly Soul, Christine Kyokunda, the Johnnie Walker Brand Manager, shared why it was the perfect cultural fit. “It goes without saying that Strictly Soul is more than just an event, it’s a cultural movement that brings people together to celebrate the shared love for RnB. And what’s a celebration without Johnnie Walker? The collaboration is simply phenomenon, and we’re thrilled to be a part of this.”
Strictly Soul isn’t just a Ugandan sensation, it’s an international RnB movement. Originally launched in South Africa in 2020, the event has expanded to several cities across Africa including Cape Town, Nairobi, Dar es Salaam, Windhoek, Kigali, and Gaborone, becoming a must-attend experience for lovers of soul and RnB.
Uganda joined the movement in 2023, and since then, Strictly Soul has been hosted in Kampala thrice, growing bigger and better with each edition. The Kampala version of the event is powered by The Production House (TPH) and Camelot Concept, with Johnnie Walker as the beverage sponsor.
