Singer Derrick Ddungu famously known as Rickman Manrick has up against the idea of musicians paying DJs to promote their music.

In a social media post, Rickman says it’s preferable for him to cast out paychecks to either Instagram or Facebook to boost his music than giving it to DJs.

Rickman cites the fact that most foreign artists like Cardi B always don’t pay for their music promotion so, it’s also uncalled for to do.

“I rather pay Instagram or Facebook to promote my music than paying a dj to play my music in the club. I don’t know what that is but it don’t sit right with me. If Cardi B ain’t paying am not paying also,” Rickman stated.

Rickman’s lamentations follow quite a huge number from fellow Ugandan artists also raising their voices against DJs for promoting foreign music more than that of the local musicians.

This prompted a mega campaign in 2017 dubbed ‘Save Ugandan Music’ masterminded by singer Jose Chameleone to make Ugandan musician’s and DJs’ ends meet productively.
