One of those nights when your loving companion insists on fulfilling what she’s been making noise about the whole week. And like that, we found ourselves at the Glow Party. To do what? To Glow. It was a Luc Belaire affair at Club Play in Industrial Area. Yours truly set foot on ground, minutes past the hourly midnight.
This was the second time the Glow Party was going down. For those who attended the previous party, it was an absolute mayhem. So let’s first do away with the negatives. Let’s first break the bad news. And make up with the good news.
When my female companion talked of a Glow Party, I really thought it was going to be absolute darkness, blazing music and only glows. Unfortunately, my mind imagined more than reality, it had to be pulled back to the world where humans live. That’s the absolute draw-back I found, and it’s purely an investment in my selfish, narcissistic desires. Yours truly tends to imagine more than the world can create, it’s the price to pay for being awesome.
That said and done, all else went absolutely great. We were welcomed by Denzel’s famous car. Denzel and Gareth Onyango had booked off their tables in the VIP section. That’s it, the VIPs of the night featured a line up of Sasha Vybz, Denzel and Gareth Onyango to mention but a few. The ladies who unveiled the glow pieces were a superb team, they just went out of their way to be super nice.
If there’s one thing that really glowed, it was the people. The people were absolutely glowing, from their personalities, energies, and beauty. There was too much beauty locked in one place. It was a glow affair, a black bottle affair. At the Glow Up Party, you did not get the kind of snobbish attitudes that welcome you to other club parties. Here, it was people just having fun. They were in the moment. No egos, no show-offs, just people radiating their energies and infecting each other with awesomeness.
DJ Ciza decided to keep the guests in tune for the better half of the night. The Glow Party went down till 5am when most people decided to retire to their beds. I ventured out to the loos, and they were being well-maintained. They too were glowing.
If you asked me whether I would show up for the next Glow Party, it would be a yes, but not that big ‘yes.’ My only wish is that at the next Glow party, it becomes super darkness and that people are left to glow in pure darkness. That will be an absolute unforgettable party. I also think the next glow party will need to have a more hyper tempo music, something that totally runs people mad. Perhaps theme it around Daft Punk or Techno. Only the DJ’s box should be lit up on the next edition, all else should be a real black affair. Although the music of the night lived up to my expectations, it fell short of the ‘madness’ touch. I wanted something to turn me crazy, something that was going to be a real drug.
But it is a great concept, that just needs an excellent perfect. The audience is right, the organizers are right. It just requires a slight tweak to make it Kampala’s must attend event for all revellers. And I must say, Club Play remains the most perfect location for this party. Till next time, let me continue glowing.
