With just a week left to the closer of the January transfer window, Austrian football giants, Red Bull Salzburg are desperate to secure the services of Cranes player maker Farouk Miya.
Last week on Wednesday, his current club and Uganda Premier League reigning champions, Vipers announced having reached agreement with Belgian giants Standard Liege.
According to the agreement the Uganda Kobs’ skipper will join the Belgian side after the CHAN tournament on loan for the rest of the season in a deal worth $400,000(about Ugx 1.4 billion) with an option of signing him permanently.
However, the latest reports suggest that Red Bull Salzburg want to hijack the deal with a better offer. Former Uganda Cranes star Ibrahim Sekagya who is currently a backroom staff at New York Red Bulls, a sister club to Red Bull Salzburg, recently flew to Rwanda to try and persuade Miya into joining his former club.
Reports from Rwanda also indicate that Sekagya has already met officials from Vipers as well as those from FUFA including the president Eng. Moses Magogo.
We will keep you posted.
