The UNDO the Taboo campaign by Reach A Hand Uganda is a multifaceted initiative aimed at addressing menstrual hygiene management among young people. The campaign seeks to raise awareness and eliminate stigma surrounding menstruation.
Through this campaign, Reach a Hand Uganda had various initiatives including menstrual hygiene education in schools, communities, distribution of eco friendly menstrual products and advocacy for improved menstrual hygiene policy.
The UNDO the taboo campaign took place at Motiv and attracted a number of schools that on the day took menstrual hygiene lessons, equipment and were also sent out to preach the menstrual hygiene gospel.
The day activities included: Fundraising and distribution of Menstrual Hygiene kits, Media campaign, UnDO the taboo art competition, short film on the subject, podcast among other related activities.
Menstrual Hygiene Day takes place on 28 May every year. It’s a chance to highlight the importance of menstrual care, and raise awareness about the issues faced by those who don’t have access to sanitary products.
