To millennials Robert Ogwal aka Rasta Rob MC would easily go unnoticed but to the youths and teens of the 90s, his name is still engraved in their memories.
He was one of the biggest names in the country before he left for UK but we will not go deep into that. Here is the gist of the story!
Rasta Rob claims is the one who brought socialite Zari Hassan to the City when she was still green, young, cute, virgin and succulent. In his latest interview, the retired radio personality revealed that he met Zari in Jinja in 1995 when the world knew nothing about her.
”I met Zari around 1995. I was still at Sanyu at the time. At the time, I also worked with Soul Disco as a DJ. Soul Disco used to play at Botanical Beach every Sunday. However, we were often hired by local promoters who used to host parties at Jinja Sailing Club”, he said before adding;
“It is here where I met Zari. She was among the girls who always came for the disco. Zari was in her teens… about 18 and extremely beautiful. She used to come to me, requesting for songs and it is here that I used my chance. I got her from Jinja and brought her to Kampala with me. However, she became very wild on getting to Kampala….. Jumping around with every man. I finally let go but she was my girlfriend for 3years.”
Rasta Rob adds that shortly after dumping Zari, he dated SK Mbuga’s bae, Vivian.
”I dated Vivian, the now embattled wife of SK Mbuga. We both stayed in Makindye and I truly loved her. I remember even paying her fees at Old Kampala SS and hostel fee at one time. Though, the relationship wasn’t going anywhere. She had a very tough mother and she was either the area chairman or LDU. She was one of the most feared people in Makindye. I left Vivian for Sylivia Owori’s kid sister, Suzan Owori. We later separated and that’s when I met my current wife”.
