Finding fault with the talented duo of Radio and Weasel is hard to come by these days. They are that good. If they are not bagging awards, they are probably orchestrating another of their hits. That has been 2013 for the duo. Very imposing of them.
And during their very productive trip to Uncle Sam’s land when nominated for the BET Awards, they of course had to make stops at some studios and that resulted into a few tracks one being Dream On.
Now I honestly feel for these chaps. They have set very high standards this year that every song they put out there will always be looked at with close scrutiny. And I will say it blatantly. Their latest release is a FAIL.
These guys have been credited time and again for their versatility but this time it was a case of trying too hard. The song is guided by a pumping Hip-hop beat the likes of Ruyonga would easily play to but unfortunately Radio never sounded comfortable one bit. The effortless crooner we are accustomed to is shelved for a novice who is clearly clueless about his craft and is just on a try out.
Weasel lends his ruff-neck voice in attempt to save the song to no avail. The only positives being the production that was crisp and the message that reflects how they have worked so hard to get so far and they will keep working. In a year that has given us classics like Magnetic, Fitting, Ekyama, the song Dream On has been a far cry from the very unbelievable outlay of jams the duo has put out.
This song does little to hurt their ability because we know what these guys can decide to do on a good day of work. We will take it as a one-off and wait for another of their biggest tunes.
