Musician Rachel Magoola has been unveiled as one of the judges at this year’s edition of Club Music Video Awards(CMVAs).
Popular for her hit single “Obangaina,” she joins a rich cast of seven other influential figures in entertainment circles on the continent.
Born and raised by music teacher parents, Magoola spent much of her youth learning and performing traditional songs and dances from all over Uganda. She is a qualified music teacher, and has in the past worked with Afrigo Band where she honed her vocal and songwriting skills.
Other Ugandans on the judge panel include Film/Theatre Director Adong Lucy Judith, Performing Arts Critic Edward Sendikaddiwa, and Isaac Rucci, a promotions and events manager.
Meanwhile, to ensure transparency reigns in the judging process as is with the CMVAs, Alexander Forbes has been hired to oversee the whole process.
“We have once again selected the judging panel with a mix of highly experienced and respected 8 local and international judges,” said the steering committee.
The award ceremony will take place on 18th March.
