Quex Criticizes UPRS Over Low Royalty Payment

Singer Quex has voiced his frustration with the Uganda Performing Rights Society (UPRS) after receiving a royalty payment he deemed unfairly low.

The singer, best known for his hit song Kachumbali, shared his disappointment after visiting the UPRS offices to inquire about his earnings.

According to Quex, he was initially informed that his total annual payment amounted to UGX 400,000. However, upon collection, he was only given UGX 40,000, despite his song enjoying massive airplay across the country.

Eddy Kenzo blasts UPRS over music money

“I dropped one of the hottest songs in Uganda, but when I went to UPRS, I was offered only UGX 40,000. Yet my song was played everywhere. It felt unfair,” he lamented.

He also pointed out that other artists had received payments in the millions, which he found puzzling and inconsistent.
