Princess Agnes Bagaya Kakoko who was in-charge of events at the palace in Tooro Kingdom, sister to Elizabeth Bagaya and King Oyo’s grandmother is dead.
She passed away yesterday in Fort Portal, Kabarole District in Buheesi.
Described as a mother to many, a grandmother, mentor the sister of one of the arguably most beautiful women in Uganda Elizabeth Bagaya, Agnes will be missed.
This is a sad moment for Tooro as a Kingdom and we are in prayer with them. Rest in peace to the deceased.
The late Princess Agnes Bagaya Nkwenge Kakoko Abwooli the youngest sister of Sir George David Matthew Kamurasi Rukidi III was born in 1923 to David Kasagama Kyebambe III the late King of Tooro and to Byanjelu. She was married to the late Bernard K. Funeral service scheduled for Wednesday 19th at St John’s in Fort Portal.
Tooro is one of the four traditional kingdoms located within the borders of Uganda. The current Omukama of Toro is King Rukidi IV. It was founded in 1830 when Omukama Kaboyo Olimi I, the eldest son of Omukama of Bunyoro Nyamutukura Kyebambe III of Bunyoro, seceded and established his own independent kingdom. Absorbed into Bunyoro-Kitara in 1876, it reasserted its independence in 1891.
