Pepsi, the flagship brand of soft drink giants Crown Beverages Limited (CBL), has injected more than Shs20 million into the concert to cater for publicity, refreshments and other logistics.
Innocent Tibayeita, the head of Sales and Marketing at CBL, said the sponsorship is a continuation of Pepsi’s support to outstanding talent that is in line with the Pepsi’s brand proposition.
“Juliana is arguably one of Uganda’s most outstanding talents with classy and refreshing music, aspects that Pepsi shares and celebrates,” Tibayeita said.
“Our sponsorship of the Up Close and Personal concert will give both Juliana and Pepsi fans the opportunity to have fun and be refreshed, and bring to life Pepsi Cola’s global campaign of “Live for Now”. Live for Now invites and inspires Pepsi fans to live each moment to the fullest, thereby capturing the excitement of Now,” he added.
He said sponsoring Juliana’s concert fits well with Pepsi’s Live For Now brand promise, which reflects the insight that its fans all around the world desire to capture the excitement of now, a mindset that is aligned at the very core with the brand’s DNA.
“Pepsi Cola is about fun and entertainment which many people always desire at a particular time. Many times that very moment, which is NOW.”
Juliana Kanyomozi said she was very appreciative of Pepsi Cola’s support and promised a refreshing experience at her Friday concert.
“What we have here is a perfect blend of music and refreshment. I promise all my fans the best experience ever at a Kampala concert, I invite you all for an out of this world experience, with Pepsi’s support,” Kanyomozi said.
Entrance to the concert is Shs100,000 and proceeds from it will go to Terpu Girls School.
Crown Beverages’ sponsorship for the concert comes at a time when the company is rolling out the new Pepsi global marketing campaign in Uganda. The campaign, announced earlier this year by PepsiCo Inc., is intended to rekindle the company’s deep heritage in pop culture and music. It wants to connect with the “Now culture”.
Juliana, a one-time Pearl of Africa Music Artiste of the year and winner of several local and international awards, will perform some of her big songs like Alive Again, I am Ugandan, Omutima Guluma, Ndi bulungi, Usiende Mbali, Kantambule, Omutima (with Isaiah Katumwa), Nabikoowa, among others on the night.
