When you look at the key politicians in this country, you will think that they are too busy to even get a moment and listen to music, but not President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. His Excellency revealed to journalists recently that he listens to quite a lot of Chameleone’s music and he has a favorite song out of the whole bunch.
The president confessed his love for the song during an event where the singer performed at a thanksgiving ceremony organized by Bugiri Woman MP, Justine Kasule Lumumba to celebrate her appointment as the new NRM Secretary General. Chameleone revealed that Museveni told him that he likes his performance, but asked, why he didn’t play his favourite song. When he asked for which song it was, the president said that he loves Basiima Ogenze by Chameleone.
“I was humbled to know that he’s a great fan of the Mighty Leone Island Music Empire Music. ‘Basiima Ogenze is my Favourite why didn’t you play it?’ That’s all he said.”
Chameleone has vowed to play the song every time he performs at an event where the president is guest of honor.
It should be noted that Chameleone has enjoyed a good relationship with the first family. Last year at his One man One million concert, the first lady of Uganda and Hon Minister for Kagamoja affairs, Janet Museveni attended his show. At the show, the singer was pleased to meet the first lady, he introduced his family and later did his best on stage.
Chameleone and Bebe Cool have been granted an NRM deal where they will be required to unite their fans and rally them to support the party. The two stars are to be paid 1 billion shillings for this service.
