His Excellence Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has offered Uganda Cranes a chartered plane that will take the team to Lome, Togo to play the Sparrow Hawks in the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
The president who according to the federation’s website recently spoke with FUFA head, Eng. Moses Magogo congratulating the Cranes upon their recent victories against Comoros and Sudan in the AFCON and CHAN qualifiers respectively also pledged full support to the team.
Uganda recently overcome Sudan on a 4-0 aggregate to qualify for the 2016 CHAN finals that will be played in Rwanda.
In a four days’ space, the Cranes are set to play Togo in a double headed duel on 12th and 15th November, 2015 in Lome and later at Namboole respectively.
“The President’s support will meet the cost of air tickets for the foreign based players who have been invited. He will also cater for the costs of the National team’s preparations amounting to USD 44,000 and UGX 70M,” reads a confirmation on the federation’s website (www.fufa.co.ug)
“The Uganda Cranes will travel to Lome on a chartered flight whose costs will be met by the Government of Uganda,” the statement further reads.
On a related note, the government has also pledged to pay the players’ match bonuses amounting to USD 3,000 per head, however this will highly be depend on the results.
Head coach Milutin Micho Sredojevic will name the Uganda Cranes squad for the encounter this week on Wednesday during the weekly press conference.
