The curtain has fallen. The stage is left for the audience, the voters to finally finish the job. Who rocked? Who flopped? Which campaign song was worth the hype and which candidate got a raw deal. Let’s see.
Best Campaign Song: Toka Kwababarani
A little known artist operated on a small budget but still delivered a powerful song. Well crafted in Kiswahili and Runyoro, Adam, the singer used languages that could relatively be understood by a large section of the population. For the non-Bantu speakers, “Toka kwababarani” is a quite a catchy phrase. It spoke volumes. Whether the song will deliver his candidate to State House remains the work of the voters. However, hats off for this song.
We have reviewed “Tubonga Nawe” before, and the general feeling is that despite the avalanche of the stars, the song fell short of a song befitting the presidency. Even the less deserving Idi Amin and Mobuto had more respectful songs in their honour. Perhaps the over excited stars rushed too much. The song was for Bantu speaking voters.
