Police Football Club have named former Kampala Capital City Authority FC tactician Abdullah Mubiru as their new head coach on a three year deal.
Mubiru, who was sacked at Vipers Sports Club in mid-December following a 2-1 loss to 16-time league record champions SC Villa was named yesterday as the new coach and will be deputized by John Luyinda Ayala while James Magala will be the goalkeeping coach.
The development was confirmed by the Cops’ club chairman Asan Kasingye who expressed his joy for the team’s capture of the trio. “I am happy to announce the signing of the trio of Abdullah Mubiru (Head Coach), John Luyinda (Assistant) and James Magala (goalkeeping coach) for Police FC with effect from today until 2019.”
The former Proline coach and CAF class A licence holder replaces Sam Timbe who threw in the towel before Angelo Lonyesi took over in an interim capacity.
Mubiru is headed for a huge task ahead of him to save Kale Kayihura’s men from relegation following a struggling start in the first round of the 2016/2017 season.
The 2005 league champions currently stand 13th on the Azam Uganda Premier League log with 14 points from 15 games. They managed just three wins, five draws and seven losses in the first half of the season.
