The Uganda Police under its Directorate of Crime Intelligence has finally arrested Kampala City socialite Sipapa after days in hideout.
Sipapa’s name appeared on Police’s wanted list earlier this week for an alleged aggravated robbery, which occurred at the home of a South Sudanese national Jacob Arok, in Kawuku-Bunga, on the night of August 28, 2022.
This was after a thorough search that was conducted in Sipapa’s home in Buwate in Kira Division, in the presence of his wife Nakiyimba Shamira, saw exhibits of evidential material, allegedly stolen from the home of Arok Jacob, recovered. These include USD 70,000, 4 Iphones, 3 laptops, gold jewellery, among others.
Police had 4 suspects (including the wife) arrested from Sipapa’s home immediately and put under custody.
A serious manhunt for Sipapa who was urgently needed for questioning was issued country wide was issued as he had last appeared in Nagongera, Soni and Nawire sub counties, where he was distributing money in the company of bouncers by that time.
“We wish to inform the public that the Directorate of Crime Intelligence has arrested, a one Olimu Charles Sipapa, who was on the Police wanted list, for an alleged Aggravated Robbery, which occurred at the home of Jacob Arok, in Kawuku-Bunga, on the night of 28.08.2022,” the Uganda Police Force statement reads.
The security force also says intense arrangements have been aligned to hand him over to the CID task team at Kampala Metropolitan Police, for further interrogations and court action.
“Arrangements are in place to hand him over to the CID task team at Kampala Metropolitan Police, for further interview and court action. The police leadership has commended the tireless efforts of the CID and CI task teams in arresting and helping to bring the suspect to justice,” Police adds.
This now brings the number of suspects arrested in the case to five.
