Pizza Connection, a restaurant famed for its expertise in preparing Italian cuisines such as cappuccino, latte, pizzas, burgers and pasta, has launched a new pizza with a Ugandan feel to it.
The Garden City based restaurant has unveiled a one of a kind pizza dubbed “Matooke Pizza”. Just like the name suggests, the new pizza is made from matooke, one of Uganda’s most popular traditional foods.

Speaking at the launch of the new pizza, Leonardo Giannetti, an assistant at Pizza Connection noted that the new pizza comes as part of their effort to blend Italian and Uganda cuisines together.
He said, “We have a lot of experience, both in Uganda and abroad, in Italian cuisine. During our time in Uganda, we have been trying to develop a fantastic fusion between Italian and Ugandan cuisines; something with a true Uganda feel to it. After several attempts, the idea of creating a pizza with matooke finally dawned on us.”
“We have finally achieved a product that we are happy with and very proud of. We promise to continue offering the best service, great and delicious meals and more innovations like the Matooke Pizza,” he added.

For the next two weeks, customers will have a chance to taste the new Matooke Pizza for free after ordering any of the other pizzas, burgers or pasta dishes.
