The 3rd edition of the annual Nyege Nyege music festival was concluded on Sunday in Jinja. Held at Nile Discovery Beach, the festival attracted scores of individuals from different parts of the world who camped at the banks of river Nile for the one of a kind experience.
The festival kicked off on Friday and went on until Sunday as the festival goers reveled in a three day non-stop musical experience. Despite the rains during the event, the mood was not dampened. The hyped up revelers continued to enjoy the festivities with just as much energy through the festival. Day time was marked by a chilled out atmosphere as individuals recovered from the effects of all-night partying, before later stepping up the party at night.
There were over 200 artistes and deejays from across the continent and beyond who performed on four stages which included the Bell, Chill, Umoja and Electro stages with each stage having a special offering from live bands, instrumentalists, cultural acts, dance acts and DJ showcases.
Some of the acts included Uganda’s Latinum, Maro, Byg Ben, DJ Aludah, DJ Rachel, Cameroon’s Reniss, Germany’s Harmonious Thelonious, Ireland’s Peter Power, Netherland’s DJ Marcelle and Ghana’s DJ Gafacci among others.
Organized by Boutiq Foundation and Talent Africa, the Nyege Nyege Festival seeks to develop the local arts and culture industry by creating a platform for upcoming artists while connecting underground acts from around the continent.
