Photos: Madrat and Chiko shine at 10th anniversary in Nseko Buseko season 5

Last night, the Sheraton Garden was alive with laughter, music, and celebration as, Madrat and Chiko real names Dickson Lubega and Frank Mubiru respectively, marked their10th anniversary in the highly anticipated Nseko Buseko Season 5 edition in a show dubbed, “10 years of Madrat & Chiko” The event brought together a vibrant audience of fans, well-wishers, fellow comedians, and an audience from all walks of life.

Hosted by Uncle Mo and Uncle Mark, the evening featured unforgettable performances from some of Uganda’s most beloved artists including Mesearch Semakula who captivated the crowd with his soulful music. Lydia Jazmine delivered an electrifying performance that had everyone on their feet while Dr. Bbosa brought his signature voice and energy. Comedians Omala Daniel, Talkers, and Tumbeetu kept guests laughing while Victoria University Dancers, Shebby Music, DJ Tony, and DJ Nimrod, created a vibrant atmosphere. The presence of the Deputy Speaker of Parliament and notable figures like Hon. Nyamutoro and Hon. Nsereko among others highlighted the significance of the event. 

As always, Madrat and Chiko added their trademark satire to the event, providing a humorous commentary on current events and societal issues. Their comedic genius not only entertained but also sparked conversations among attendees, making the night both enjoyable, thought-provoking, and a true revelation of the huge impact they have had on comedy and the entertainment industry at large.

Aly Allibhai, CEO of Talent Africa Group, the organizer of the event, expressed his gratitude for the support received. “We are excited to celebrate a decade of Madrat and Chiko, a show that has become a staple in Ugandan entertainment. The support from our partners and the audience has been phenomenal, and we look forward to many more years of laughter and creativity.”

A heartfelt thank you was also extended to Uganda Waragi and UBL for their unwavering support and partnership with the Ugandan entertainment industry. Their commitment to supporting local talent and promoting cultural events has been instrumental in the growth of the sector.

Hillary Baguma, the Uganda Breweries Brand Manager Mainstream Spirits congratulated Madrat and Chiko on a successful show and milestone. “Uganda Waragi is the biggest supporter of unique Ugandan craft and the anniversary celebrations. Nseko Buseko attests to the brand’s effort to bind consumers while supporting the local creative industry through which comedy belongs”. He noted.

As the night came to a close, attendees left with smiles, memories, and a renewed appreciation for the vibrant entertainment scene in Uganda. Madrat and Chiko continue to be a beacon of creativity and joy, and their 10th-anniversarycelebration was a testament to the enduring spirit of Ugandan comedy and music.
