Bakiga Nation which has over the years grown into one of the most sought-after cultural events on the social calendar returned for its 6th edition on Sunday at UMA show grounds. Unlike the previous editions, revelers had to pay a cover charge to partake in Sunday’s festivities. However, this did not deter the overzealous revelers as they still flocked Lugogo in droves to celebrate the Kiga cultural heritage. By 12 noon, there was already a sizeable crowd at the venue and it continued to swell as the hours wore on.
It was a funfilled day as the exuberant partiers reveled in traditional dances and feasted on food and drinks unique to Bakiga like their local brew enturire which was served in gourds. At some point the crowd could also been seen dancing in unison to ekitaguuro, a Kiga cultural dance. Other fun activities included Kwepena, sack race and rope skipping among others. There were also music performances from singers Shine Omukiga, Tamba and Qwela Band, much to the delight of the delirious crowd.
The Nile Special-sponsored event went on till midnight.
