JINJA- Following his loss to America’s Richard Abraham, many fans were again questioning his potential against non-Ugandan Kickboxers. Friday was to be a hard test for Golola’s credentials against international fighters.
However, the self-styled ‘No Joking Subject’ silenced his critics as he knocked-out Tanzania’s Emmanuel Shija from Crested Crane Hotel, Jinja. Within a minute, the much anticipated 5 rounds fight was all but over after a well calculated kick from Golola saw Shija kiss the ground and did not return.
Efforts by the medical team to treat and have him back were no remedy as Shija even required lifters to his hotel room.
“This is Golola Moses of the New Testament. I promised to finish this Tanzanian before the ‘worst goes to the west’ and have done exactly that. My coach has worked on my skills and concentration and now handle each fight calmly,” Golola Moses said. “I have defeated Shija in almost the same way I beat up Tugume The Rock. I have twisted his knee and next time, I will twist his nose. I am the champion and always ready for any challenge. Now my focus is on the next fight.”
X-ray tests later revealed that Shija had injured his knee muscles and would now require 2 months before he can return to the heavy training.
Shija and his coach however asked for a rematch, as they felt that the defeat was more because of the heavy rains that left the ring slippery not Golola’s skills.
“This was no contest because I sustained an injury in round 1 due to a slippery ring as a result of the heavy rain pour. It was a technical knock-out. Moses Golola still remains the champion but a return bout has been ordered,” he said.
Heavy Rains:
But even the Friday fight was almost called off after heavy rains in Jinja that continued up to 8pm. It was at around 9pm, that the fight promoters agreed to continue with the fight. Hundreds of fans turned up to support Golola.
