When youthful businessman Gabriel Lukwago, fondly known among his friends as Gabby, walked into Skyz Hotel Naguru on Sunday afternoon, what he did not expect to find was so many familiar faces in one place. So many of his friends had gathered on the hotel’s deck merrymaking.
Gabby was momentarily bewildered. He had thought he was only accompanying a friend as their plus one to a party at the hotel. Little did he know, he was actually walking into his own party.
He was pleasantly surprised, he would later tell us. His friends had managed to successful pull off the biggest surprise for his birthday.
“I was really surprised,” Gabby Lukwago said. “A friend of mine tricked me. She said it was a Gatsby party for a friend and I was her plus one but when I got here I was really surprised when I saw all my friends here. I didn’t expect this. I am blessed to have each one of them.”
Tattu Tamale, one of Gabby’s oldest and close friend, revealed that they planned the big surprise for over a month and was glad they managed to pull it off. “Gabby is a good person, and he deserves this,” she further noted. “Everything we have done here is to show Gabby that we love him. I am glad we managed to pull this off.”
The surprise birthday party followed a Gatsby theme and was marked by glitz and glamour as revelers were all dressed to the nines. The gents showed up in suits and tuxedos while the ladies were dressed in fancy party dresses, most completing the look with silk gloves.
The party kicked off with a cocktail party on the hotel’s deck as the party goers enjoyed free-flowing cocktails while listening to live band music. The cocktail party went on till sunset, after which the guests were ushered into the hall for dinner. What followed dinner was a music performance from Madoxx Sematimba and a cake cutting ceremony to close the evening.
