It was a fun-filled evening as the Swangz All Star tour headed to Masaka on Saturday. The music fest which was hosted at Maria Flo hotel attracted a mammoth crowd who were treated to performances from several top Ugandan musicians.
However, to steal the show was musician turned politician Bobi Wine who stepped on stage minutes after midnight, donning his now signature red beret cap, driving the frantic crowd into a frenzy.
He fired up the crowd with a politically charged performance as he altered lyrics in several of his songs like, “Mazzi Mawanvu”, “Bikwase Kyagulanyi”, “Kyarenga”, “Time Bomb”, and “Aidah” among others to take a jibe at the government, much to the excitement of the crowd who were dancing and cheering him on.
In between his performance, he also delivered a pep talk for the youth telling them that they have the power to change whatever situation they are in for the better. He later invited some of the local politicians in attendance to join him on stage as he concluded his performance.
Other top artistes who performed on the evening included Sheebah Karungi, Aziz Azion, and B2C.
The Swangz All Star tour is a celebration of the best of Ugandan music in partnership with Bell Jamz, a music platform by Bell Lager to provide exciting music experiences. It comes as part of the activities to mark Swangz Avenue’s 10th anniversary and has so far been in Mbale, Gulu and Masaka.
It will next head to Arua and conclude in Kampala in a mega music showcase that will be headlined by Jamaican star Tarrus Riley. The climaxing show will be held on August 31 at Cricket Oval.
