There is a new posh hangout in town — La Terraza Bar and Lounge. Located at at Acacia Avenue in Kisementi, it officially opened its doors to the public on Thursday evening.
While its location is familiar to party goers, as it replaces former Sky Lounge, everything else has changed. The decor is more stylish and elegant, with a more radiant atmosphere.
And revelers came out in big numbers for the grand opening ceremony. The bar’s rooftop was packed to the brim with revelers by 8pm.
Guests were welcomed with mixes from Fem DJ who had them dancing to a mashup of Ugandan, Nigerian and Amapiano music. The night’s roster featured several other top deejays including Dj Kas Baby among others.
However, the highlight of the night were performances from Azawi and new kid on the block, Zulitums. Zulitums hit the stage first kicking off his performance with his hit song “One minute” he followed it with “Easy” and climaxed his performance with crowed favorite “Oluvanyuma” a soulful ballad that got the crowd singing in unison.
He then left the stage for Azawi who walked on singing her smash hit, “My Year”, throwing the crowd into a frenzy. She followed it up with her popular hit single “Lo Fit”, “Repeat it” and “Qinamino”. The star climaxed her performance with her latest release, “Majje”, a hustler’s anthem off her African Music album.
Supported by Johnnie Walker, La Terraza is anticipated to be one of Kampala’s hottest upscale nightspots.
Speaking at the event, UBL’s Head of Scotch and Reserve Christine Kyokunda noted that supporting bars and fun spaces like La Terraza is something that the iconic brand is committed to doing in order to bring premium experiences to the people that enjoy the brand.
“The way we showed up at La Terraza today is what we plan on doing in other upscale bars around the city, we have so far done this in a couple of places, and we won’t stop here,” she said.
