In a video that Bobi Wine has shot with Jamaican singer Patra, the “Size Yo” singer is seen exposing his muscles – shirtless as Patra keeps touching him in a sensual way. The singer released high quality photos of the video shoot on his Facebook timeline today sparking a debate on why he chose to do a collabo with Patra and rush to make a video.
Well, we all know that Singer Bobi Wine has been struggling musically. The “Tugambire Ku Jenipher” singer enjoyed his moment at the top of the Ugandan music scene until he decided to go into business which somehow derailed him from his career. By the time he woke up, many artistes had cropped up and some were attempting to fill his big shoes, the Ghetto gladiator was slowly but surely fading away.
“I saw Bobi grow in the music industry, the guy was a pro, and every song he released would receive massive airplay. People in the Ghetto and in uptown areas loved this man. He was a star like you can imagine. The way he intertwined information sharing and music making his unique ‘Infotainment’ flavor was just amazing and it set him apart those days,” says a Ugandan music fan who has been following Bobi Wine’s music journey closely.
“I don’t know where he lost it. He just came to a halt one day. His music started losing it. Some of my mates suspect that this happened because he concentrated on his businesses more, he is so into his real estate and beach businesses. Not that this is a bad thing, but he abandoned his true calling along the way. Bobi Wine is now staggering because of that,” the fan concluded.
It is against this backdrop that Bobi Wine worked with Mr. G to revive his career. This did not go well not at home or even in Jamaica. A Jamaican DJ and singer, Devano, also known as Devan Levy confirmed this recently when he came out recently and said Bobi’s music with Mr. G is not popular at all in Jamaica.
Bobi Wine saw Lady Patra as his only salvation since she has had a track record of success. The singer who a number of albums under her belt first made an impression on the US charts as a featured singer on the Shabba Ranks song, “Family Affair”, which hit number 84 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1994. Her debut album was number one on the Reggae albums chart. She has enjoyed a successful career since then. When she came for the Club Mega fest, Bobi decided to use her to jump start his career. We hope this works.
