The annual Abryanz Style & Fashion Awards are back.
Now in their 5th edition, the awards were officially launched at a cocktail event held at Kampala Serena Hotel on Thursday evening.
This year the awards will be held under the theme, “Fashion Takeover,” with an aim to shine a spotlight on the business side of the fashion industry, according to the franchise CEO Brian Ahumuza.
“The fashion industry has come a long way. Many individuals have been inspired to join the fashion business as stylists and designers and they are making money out of it,” he stated. “But, still, the industry is not appreciated enough.”
“We are not just about glitz and glam; fashion is a serious business. This year, we shall celebrate more entrepreneurs by rewarding people who are portraying the fashion industry in a different way and showing it as a serious business.” He added.
However, the event will still retain its pomp and glitz and the organisers are pulling out all the stops to make the fashion celebration bigger and better this year, including partnering with South African fashion designer, David Tlale, who will be taking over as the production director of the show.
Alongside the already existing categories, the franchise returns with two new categories: Fashion Entrepreneur of the Year for Uganda and Africa that will go to an individual who has shown outstanding commercial success with their business or personal brand.
Sponsored by Cîroc, the award ceremony will be held on Friday, December 8 at the Kampala Serena Hotel. The Abryanz Style & Fashion Awards seek to recognise outstanding personalities in the fashion industry in Uganda and the whole of Africa.
