Renowned musician Phina Mugerwa also known as Phina Masanyalaze has officially announced her entry into politics.

She revealed her intention to contest for the Female Workers’ Member of Parliament (MP) seat, a position categorized under Uganda’s special interest groups.
Speaking about her political ambitions, Phina Masanyalaze said,
“Today is the day I decided to come public and spill the secret that I have kept for a very long time, that I have joined the race to contest for the position of female workers’ MP.”
She elaborated that the seat represents workers, who are elected through a college vote system, rather than a general public vote.
“This group includes the PWs and workers. What brings workers together is the unions. There are more than 50 unions, and each brings 10 voters. Currently, I have like 500 voters. It’s a college vote,” she explained confidently, expressing optimism about her support base.
With her growing influence and connection with the workers’ community, Phina Masanyalaze appears ready to take on the challenge of representing the voice of female workers in Parliament.
