The President of the Uganda Musicians’ Associations (UMA) Cindy Sanyu has declined reports suggesting that; Phina Mugerwa, Halima Namakula and Isaac Rucci were suspended from the musicians’ leadership body.
On Monday, December 7, 2021, a statement released by UMA revealed that three of its leaders (Phina Mugerwa, Halima Namakula and Isaac Rucci) had been suspended.
This followed a UMA Cabinet meeting held on Sunday December 6, 2021 which concluded that the three would no longer represent the association in any business at any level or in any form with immediate effect unless communicated otherwise by the association.
The letter also depicted that all communications and pending businesses the UMA would be done directly with its office through Ms. Renah Nalumansi, who is part of the cabinet.
However, the association President, Cindy has trashed the letter that she claims was written and published by UMA treasurer, Ibrahim Kasolo Mayanja a.k.a Big Eye Starboss.
Cindy reveals that the communication was done without any superior seat’s consent and thus, its unofficial.
The “Boom Party” crooner also asserts that such information should be published by either the President or Vice President of the association, and for this case of the matter where UMA has no Vice President, it would have been done by the Secretary.
“Please disregard that letter because such letters and communication is supposed to come from the President or atleast the Vice who we don’t have, so it should come from the President or secretary, or when the secretary is in error then it should come from the President,” Cindy told a media house.
She further asked the public to ignore the information with hopes of releasing an official communication on what is transpiring in UMA.
“So, disregard that letter and we are coming up with an official statement on what is happening and what we are going to do about it,” Cindy added.
It’s still a dire season for UMA as it continues to be hit by various external and internal challenges.
The most recent provocation was last week when its secretary Phina Mugerwa and Policy board member, Halima Namakula bitterly clashed in public over yet undisclosed reasons.
