The Board of Crown Beverages Limited has today announced the appointment of Paddy Muramiirah to the role of Chief Executive Officer effective 1st November 2016. Mr. Muramiirah has been in acting capacity as CEO at CBL since August 2016 and he succeeds Mr. Simon Lugoloobi, who has been CEO over the last eight years.

Mr. Muramiirah who joined CBL in 2005 as the Head of Operations has an extensive background in Mechanical engineering and also comes in with a wealth of experience having worked at different levels of management in a number of organisations including beverage industries.

During his 11 years at CBL, he has been behind the growth that CBL has registered in the period and through his leadership, Pepsi has received numerous accolades both regional and international, including Winner of the Water Use Management in 2013; National RECP Awards, 1st Runner Up in Energy use management; the bronze award from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) for their outstanding performance in the 2014 Global Chemical Leasing Awards to mention but a few. He has been influential in driving projects that enhance environmental protection including installation of state of the art waste water treatment plant.

Announcing the appointment today at CBL premises in Nakawa, CBL Board Chairman, Mr Amos Nzeyi, said, “Among the applicants considered Mr. Muramiirah emerged the best suited candidate. His leadership, immense experience and knowledge in this sector, along with his strong track record made him the outstanding candidate for the role. Mr. Muramiirah has demonstrated throughout his career the ability to work successfully, designing and leading strategies which resulted in impressive value creation.”

“And given his credentials, I am certain he will make a significant contribution to the role and create the next chapter of CBL’s story of success,” Mr. Nzeyi added.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Muramiirah, said, “I am honored at the opportunity to lead CBL in the next exciting phase of its journey. I am thankful to the Board and staff for bestowing such faith in me. I look forward to everyone’s support to fulfill this tremendous responsibility.”

Mr. Nzeyi added that the current changes in management and staff at CBL are part of the company’s strategy as it adopts a new management structure to manage costs better and remain competitive in the current tough economic environment.

“The Board is committed to supporting the management team so that we continue satisfying our customers’ needs through innovation and by being a responsible citizen. Once again, I take this opportunity to thank Mr. Lugoloobi, the outgoing CEO for his efforts that have seen Crown Beverages Limited grow in leaps and bounds to the current position after serving the company for 15 years,” he said.

Mr. Lugoloobi, the outgoing CEO, said, “I am proud of the results we as a team achieved during my leadership for 7 years as Finance Manager followed by another 8 years as CEO, I find it is the right time for both me and CBL to make a change. Paddy has all the qualities it takes to take CBL to the next strategic step and I wish him and the whole management team the best of luck.”
