The Pearl Of Africa Fashion Awards(PAFA) have been officially launched.

The awards which are happening for the first time were launched at a press briefing held at SkyBeach Freedom City on Wednesday.

Speaking at ceremony, Debby Kagisha, the PAFA spokesperson noted that, unlike other fashion awards, these awards will mainly shine a spotlight on local fashion designers across the country.

“The Pearl Of Africa Fashion Awards are about involving Ugandans and uplifting local talent in the fashion industry.” She stated.

According to the organisers, nominations are only open to individuals who have made a positive contribution to the fashion industry for a minimum of two years and they will close on 1st November.

Individuals can submit their entries in 28 main categories which include Most Fashionable Campusers, Best Fashion Event Host, Best Use of Social Media, Best Graphics Designer, Best Fashion Photography Studio and more.

There are also special regional categories for Best Fashionista, Best Stylist and Best Fashion Designer in East, West, North and South regions.

Winners will be announced at an award gala slated for 2nd December at SkyBeach. The award ceremony will be hosted by Roger Mugisha.
