Patrice Evra reveals ‘problems’ at Man Utd made him leave

JUVENTUS star Patrice Evra claims he left Manchester United at the end of last season because of ‘personal problems’.

The 33-year-old joined the Italian giants for a small fee during the summer despite signing a one-year deal in May, ending an eight-year spell in the Premier League.

Evra, who made 379 appearances for the Red Devils, joined the club from Monaco in 2006 and went on to become a key player under Sir Alex Ferguson.

However, the France international endured a tricky campaign under David Moyes, and has since hinted that his former manager’s match preparation was not up to scratch.

Evra has only made one appearance for his new side after playing for his country at the World Cup in Brazil, but now feels he is ready to shine in a new environment after admitting that he was right to call time on his Old Trafford adventure.

He said: “I was having personal problems at Manchester United and the only team that I wanted was Juventus.

“It is a club that has history and goals. [Former boss] Antonio Conte called me many times to convince me to join. Now I’m very happy at Juventus.

“Everyone, from doctors to the press officers, give you their best. After a month of hard work I’m happy to be here.

“The preparation has been very hard, maybe the hardest I’ve done. Everyone should remember that the Evra of United represents the past. I do my best in training and I always try to listen to the coach.”
