As he prepares for his upcoming concert, renowned gospel singer and preacher Pastor Wilson Bugembe has shared a deeply personal story from his childhood—one that left a lasting impact on his life and faith journey.
Speaking during a press conference, Bugembe emotionally recalled how a fellow pastor once shattered his dream of going back to school.
At the time, Bugembe was a struggling street child with one promise etched in his heart: to fulfill his late father’s wish that he would return to school and get an education.
“Every time I was on the streets, the only thing I wanted was to go to school. I kept asking well-wishers to help me,” Bugembe said.
One day, young Bugembe saw a glimmer of hope when he approached a preacher, hoping he would extend a helping hand. But the encounter turned into a moment of deep rejection.
“I knelt down and asked him to take me back to school. I think he wasn’t in a good mood. He looked at me and asked why a dirty boy was sitting in his new chairs. He shamed me,” Bugembe recalled.
Though the words were crushing, Bugembe said the experience didn’t break his spirit. Instead, it became a source of resilience that fueled his determination to rise above his circumstances.
