Renowned Ugandan pastor and gospel singer, Wilson Bugembe, has spoken out to clarify that he did not write the controversial song “Musenze” and disassociates himself from its political message. The song, which has gained attention over the past eight days, was actually sang by the popular comedy duo, Maulana & Reign.

Although the song’s production beats were borrowed from one of Pastor Bugembe’s popular songs, “Miracle,” he emphasizes that he had no involvement in its creation or dissemination.

Pastor Bugembe, who leads the Worship House Ministries, expressed condemnation towards Maulana & Reign for utilizing the song without his consent, particularly for what he perceives as a political agenda.

The pastor became aware of the situation after receiving a call from a concerned friend who alerted him about the song’s release and its potential impact on his reputation.

“Musenze” is interpreted as an indirect political prayer, with Maulana & Reign appealing to God to relieve the country from the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) government, expressing their discomfort with its governance.

While acknowledging the importance of freedom of expression, Pastor Bugembe stresses the need for respectful and responsible use of music, especially in matters concerning politics.

He underscores that his primary focus remains on spreading the message of hope and faith through his music, rather than engaging in political commentary.

Pastor Bugembe’s clarification aims to ensure that his artistic integrity and spiritual mission remain intact, separate from the political discourse surrounding “Musenze.”
