‘Wekoledewo Kaki’ singer, Pius Pallaso Mayanja, has opened up about his alleged love relationship with Sheebah, life in jail while in the USA and violence here in Uganda in an interview with Quick talk. The musician, who was accused of beating up his brother Weasel, his wife in the USA (he was arrested for this) and his friend Sheebah used the opportunity to clear controversies surrounding him.
Pallaso started by saying that he is a church boy who loves God so much. He even sang a hymn for the interviewer to prove that he goes to church. The song went thus; ‘Katonda Yezu Omwagalwa…’
The Team No Sleep musician who says that people used to call him a joke, hence the name Pallaso, which was picked from the Spanish word for joke – ‘Payaso ’said that he has turned out to be a serious joke. “When I was starting out, everybody thought I was a joke; that I wouldn’t manage. I was told to try other things. These days when someone tells me “I admire you Pallaso”, I think, “Uhm you are admiring the joke”. The joke is now serious,” he said.
About the violence that he has been involved in recently, Pallaso whose favourite drink is Red label said that he is a peace loving person but the media is against him. He said; “They (Media) always portray me as the bad guy and believe whatever Weasel tells them.”
“But did you see me on TV when they showed their vandalised home and they were on the police truck? That story was designed to [taint] Pallaso. [He talks about Weasel being a bad boy who does not like to see others succeed,” Pallaso said.
Pallaso, whose favourite Ugandan musician is Elly Wamala said that he is not involved in any sexual relationship with Sheebah. As he said this, Sheebah who was also around kept rolling her eyes and looking at him erotically. “I am not dating Sheebah,” Pallaso said.
The singer then tackled the issue of being jailed in the US. He said it was not because of beating his wife since he is not a violent person. “I don’t beat women; in fact, I don’t beat people, period. Unless I am pushed.”
