The children of the late Ugandan dancehall singer Emmanuel Mayanja Ssalongo, popularly known as AK47, recently returned to Uganda after nearly nine years abroad.
Their arrival has been marked by a somber and emotional atmosphere, as AK47’s family revealed to them the tragic news of their father’s passing.
The three children, including twins, were born in the United Kingdom and became British citizens by birth.
Following AK47’s untimely death in 2015, they moved to England with their mother, Maggie Kiweesi Nalongo, and later relocated to the United States, where they lived with their maternal grandmother.
Now, their return to Uganda is part of an effort to reconnect them with their fraternal family and introduce them to their cultural heritage.
AK47’s siblings, Pallaso, Weasel, and Chameleone, shared the heartbreaking news of their father’s passing, a moment that brought both shock and sorrow for the young children.
The family also took the children to their father’s grave in Mityana, where they were seen tenderly caring for his resting place.
Videos and photos of the visit circulated on social media, capturing the profound bond and sense of loss felt by the children.
As they mourn their father’s passing, the Mayanja family has come together to support them, ensuring they feel connected to both their family and Ugandan heritage despite the time and distance that had separated them.
