By Our Reporter

With the steady shift to a cashless economy, Oryx Energies, a dealer in oil and gas products and services, is not being left behind as they have also launched a cashless payment option for their customers. They unveiled fuel cards at a press briefing held at their service station located along Lugogo Bypass on Wednesday to facilitate cashless transactions at their service stations.

According to Peter Busingye, the Managing Director  Oryx Energies Uganda, the fuel cards will deliver convenience to their customers as it will eliminate the need to carry cash to purchase fuel while also allowing them to budget for their fuel expenditure, and monitor usage.

“We are moving to a cashless economy, and this card is not only economical but also secure,” he noted. “Customers will get instant SMS alerts on their mobile phones after every transaction so that they can easily track their transactions.”

The fuel cards are being offered for free and customers will only need to provide a valid identity card such as a national ID or driving permit along with a mobile number after which  their card will be processed instantly. To top up their fuel cards, customers will visit Oryx service stations or use mobile money.

Meanwhile, customers will enjoy special discounts when they make purchases using their fuel cards such as a for every litre of fuel purchased, they will get a 50 shillings discount while for a refill of the 6Kg gas cylinder they will get a discount of 5,000 shillings.
