I first laid eyes upon her when she was the MC in hot steps season Two if my memory has served me right and she was absolutely not the girl for the show. Judging her as skimpy, misplaced, lousy and unskilled, I felt cheated as a viewer. I wondered why of all people it had to be this girl.
When she replaced Naava on login, I just felt like “damn! Why?” Many people talked of the fake accent, myself inclusive and others, that she was the only person paid to look stupid on TV and so on but one thing still stood; she was on TV, showing no signs of exit. She wasn’t and isn’t just about to log out.
My individual anecdotal point of view hasn’t changed that much to mention but in a bid to explore a rather objective point of view, on this I will not depend.
What is it in this girl that media gurus saw that some of us just can’t see? That is what I think we should look out for. What has kept her on TV?
Amidst the entire chinwag about her obscurity, she would yet make some humongous steps. Though she did not make an out of the world display, her combination with Brian Mulondo on Airtel’s Kyakabi was a perfect one and this is one of those steps.
In her I see a warrior, a resilient lady and a strong personality. Let’s say the kind of lady, mark my word “LADY”, that will not breakdown in the face of pressure and tension; the kind that will not raise a feud and the kind that will wear a smile even when all doesn’t seem well. She is the kind of girl that will stand in front of the camera and say “bring it on” regardless of how the world will perceive her. Now, this I say is what has kept her on TV.
Hotsteps, login, Airtel Kyakabi, Talent XP and currently Diiru Yo to mention but a few. I would confidently say this girl has managed to put on her record too much to ignore.
On factual as opposed to schmaltzy grounds, Robin Kisti is a presenter that has grown day after day, show after show and she is still growing. Need I mention that she has exhibited a high sense of flexibility and versatility? Isn’t this how people keep moving?
With Robin Kisti, the saying that Success in life is a matter not so much of talent or opportunity as of concentration and perseverance by C. W. Wendte does make perfect sense.
Seen as an untalented girl presented with an overwhelming opportunity, Robin Kisti has managed to persevere and her concentration has made her move a number of steps amidst loads of criticism.
For a lady her type, you won’t do a thing and expect any different from the world; people will judge you, some well and some so bad but what do you do? Stop? No! Wake up early in the morning, do what you got to do to be what you got to be; take the next step.
It doesn’t matter if you run, walk or crawl as long as you do not stop; your destination will soon not be far from your reach and this is a lesson Robin Kisti paints in its perfect colors and with so much precision.
