Golden band singer, Mesach Semakula has made a big contribution to Ugandan music as an artiste. These were the words of Radio guru Joel Isabirye as he showered Mesach with praises for his greatness in music.
“Today my friend Mesach Semakula is holding a big concert at hotel Africana,” he said. “Semakula who is an award winning artist of the year in Uganda has made a substantial contribution to Ugandan music,” he added.
“He has also remained steadfast in his support of culture through music and particularly Buganda where at some point he was actually appointed commissioner for entertainment. He is also a very humble man with a very good heart as most of the Ugandan music industry will testify,” Joel continued.
Joel then went on to say that Mesach led to the evolution of band music in the country. “He is a leading light in the evolution of band music into a formidable contemporary music genre. In his sound he remains attached to the rhumba essentials of the genre while at the same time keeps intact up to date approaches to satisfying his audiences and his stage performance is exceptional,” Joel added.
Joel first saw Mesach several years ago in the 1990s and he has watched his evolution into a master of his craft helping to consolidate band music in the process. To him Mesach is a very consummate artiste.
