Newly promoted side, Onduparaka Football Club have embarked on a stadium rehabilitation ahead of their debut season in the Uganda Premier League (UPL).
The Aura based side who host their home games at GreenLight Stadium located in Anyivu county, Arua Municipality are renovating the ground in order to much the FUFA standards before being issued a licence to host topflight games.
“We want to complete the stadium up-grading work before the start of the season as required by the FUFA club licensing rules,” Anthony Afeti, the club’s Chief Executive Officer told Kawowo.
According to some of the conditions set by FUFA, standard playing ground should have a perimeter fence, dressing rooms and well setup toilets.
The club should also have an Under-17 team, a functional office with internet, plus a CEO to run the day-to-day activities of the team before the federation can issue them with a licence that permits them to host topflight games from the stadium.
Currently the GreenLight stadium does have toilets, dressing rooms among other things. The club also revealed that some funds have been solicited to finance the process with about 4.5 million in pledges.
As of now, we are less than two months away to the start of the new season which is due mid August.
