Uganda’s oldest and finest band, Afrigo band, which has for a long time served East Africa with Uganda’s culture flavored beats, is holding a red carpet dinner to commemorate its 38 years of existence and musical excellence in the genre more popularly known as “kadongo kamu”.
The group was found 38 years ago in 1975. The band is headed by Moses Matovu who did a collabo with Juliana K the song “Guttuke”
In its 38 years of its existence, the band has come up with 21 successful albums. They have released songs about HIV from the 1980s, songs about the pressures of marriage in the 1990s, songs about the political instability of the 1970s and 1980s, among others.
The dinner will take place on the 31st of August at Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) exhibition hall where there are cooperate tables each going for 100k. There will also be performances from popular voices of Juliana K, Lord Fred Ssebata and Matendo Group.
The longest surviving band in Uganda will later hold another concert again at Ggaba beach the following day, 01st September. And the entrance will be 10K only.

We expect to hear great tracks from the group like “mundeke”, “bakulimba”, kasongo to mention but a few. So, people lets join hands and together celebrate the 38 years of the longest living band in Uganda.
