KCCA FC MVP elect Joseph Benson Ochaya is set to travel to South Africa for trials this week following an invite from one of the ABSA Premier League clubs.
The former Asante Kotoko (Ghana) left back and Uganda Cranes star was quite exceptional last season; netting seven times for his club in the league and assisting several times while remaining exquisite with the national team hence earning himself an invite from Bidvest Wits for trails.
According to a letter of invitation received by KCCA FC from the South African based club’s CEO, Jonathan Schloss, Ochaya was invited for a 3-week trial period. During that time, the youngster is expected to take part in the team’s training sessions, buildup matches and a medical. If all goes well, Ochaya could land himself a juicy contract with ‘Clever Boys’.
He will be booked at the Bidvest Wits Sports Academy that is located at St. Sturrock Park in Braamfontein, Johannesburg with the club expected to cover all the his expenses during the trial period including the travel tickets.
South Africa has always been a desired destination for many Ugandan footballers. It’s home to players like Uganda Cranes’ skipper Geoffrey Massa, Denis Masinde Onyango and Yasser Mugerwa. Others like Sula Matovu Maluda, Deus Bukenya, Chrizestom Ntambi and previously the sensational David Obua.
