Last season’s MVP Joseph Ochaya and Muzamiru Mutyaba were both on target as defending champions Kampala Capital City Authority FC maintained their 100% start to the new Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) season.
At home, the Kasasiro Boys welcomed their former assistant coach Omulangila Sam Ssimbwa on his first return to the Phillip Omondi Stadium as an opponent after his sacking and eight months ban.
A virgin first half seemingly left Mike Mutebi a bit unhappy with the team’s performance in front of goal, forcing him to withdraw summer recruit Vincent Kayizzi for striker Derrick Nsibambi instantly after restart and later on Brian Majwega for Hakim Ssenkumba.
All efforts from either side however remained fruitless until three minutes after the one hour mark when former SC Villa star Miss Katende was given matching orders for handling Paul Mucureezi’s on-target strike in the forbidden area.
The hosts were awarded a penalty and once again Joseph Ochaya stepped up to take the spot but was denied by Soana’s Didi Muhammad before reaching for the rebound to slot it into the back of the net to make it 1-0.
A few moments later, Mutyaba doubled the lead for coach Mutebi’s side that held on well to make it three wins in three matches.
The victory keeps KCCA top of the log with 9 points while Soana are in fifth place with 4 points.
