Nyege Nyege music festival

Nyege Nyege international music festival is back for its second edition!

The 2015 festival debut saw over 50 bands and artists from across the continent and around the world perform for more than 1400 attendees at the idyllic venue of Nile Discovery Beach at the source of the Nile river.

The festival served as the African debut for Kuduro pioneer DJ Marfox, of Lisbon, Portugal. It was also a Uganda debut for many of the international acts including the satirical rappers from Ghana FOKN Bois, Scottish soundsystem Mungo’s HiFi, Mexico’s Afterodon, Belgian DJ/producer Max le Daron and West Africa’s Stevo Atambire and Art Melody and Nairobi electrofunk pioneer Blinky Bill.

The event was the first of its kind, and has already been hailed by the media as one of the top music festivals in East Africa. Nyege Nyege international music festival (#NNIMF16) will this year take place on September 2nd, 3rd and 4th 2016.

Once again the audience can expect three days of non-stop performances by cutting edge regional performers and international acts. #NNIMF16 will feature a diverse range of local visual and performance artists, seminal music documentaries and culinary experiences highlighting East Africa’s food culture.

This year’s program will include curated showcases of the best of independent and live music in North, East, South and West Africa. Just like last year, the audience can expect a number of international acts whose work is in conversation with African sound. Some of the acts confirmed for 2016 are Global Bass superstar Branko, North African electronic collective Arabstazy, and Burkinabé rapper Joey le Soldat.
