Vipers Sports Club head coach, George ‘Best’ Nsimbe has described his side’s clash against Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) champions Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) as a special one in the 42nd edition of the Uganda Cup.
The two sides meet on Wednesday, 8th June 2016 in their first leg of the Uganda Cup semi-finals that is set to be played at Nakivubo War Memorial stadium with the reverse fixture slated for Sunday in Buikwe.
Having lost in two finals already against URA FC in Gulu and SC Victoria University in Masindi in 2013, Vipers’ quest for a maiden Uganda Cup victory continues tomorrow.
Nsimbe is however confident that his side have what it takes to edge the eight time winners of the annual tournament over both legs and also insists that there will be no room for error.
“The game for us now is important. Every derby is different, you can find similarities but everyone is different, the players, the positions, the atmosphere because one team wins and so it is more important for them or if you lose, it is more important for you,” Nsimbe told the club’s official website.
Having failed to defend the league title, the Kitende based side who host their home games from Buikwe will have all their sights set on the Uganda Cup. “This one will be very special because we have to win. It’s true we don’t have much margin for error. We know our rivals want to win but this is the only domestic trophy missing in our cabin,” Nsimbe added.
Erisa Ssekisambu is the current top scorer with five goals and will be looking forward to widen that tally when they visit the Kasasiro boys today at the heart of Kampala (Nakivubo).
